Why not see if you like my style of editing before you hire me? I offer one free developmental copyediting sample per customer on book-length (more than 50,000 words) manuscripts only. I request the first fifty pages and randomly select a passage to edit as the sample. I like to have the beginning included in those pages in case I need to refer to that opening chapter. However, I usually select a piece deeper into the story because beginnings are often a poor representation of the writer’s skills. Either the first few pages have been polished to death, and may have lost their shine, or the writer started at the wrong place, which throws off the pacing and other important elements in the story. I need to see your strengths and weaknesses so I know how I can help you improve your writing.
E-mail me so we can talk about your project and your needs, then we’ll go from there.
When you contact me, please include the following information:
-your book’s word count (to the nearest 1,000 words)
-your story’s genre and/or sub-genre
-the service you’re interested in
-whether or not you have a deadline for your project
-the title of your book (even if it’s just a working title)
If you’re not sure which service to choose, let me help with the decision. I’ll assess your work and suggest a service that would best fit your needs.
